Both stores leave you the same amount on these inputs.
This is a planning number, not an invoice. It assumes all sales come from one region and are spread evenly over the year. It leaves out refunds, currency conversion, and the developer account fees (Apple $99 a year, Google $25 once).
What changed in 2026
- Google split its fee into a service fee and a 5% billing fee on June 30, 2026 in the US, UK, and EEA, and on September 30, 2026 in Australia and Japan (Google, checked 2026-10-13).
- Apple moved every EU app to one set of terms on October 1, 2026. In-App Purchase is 26%, or 15% reduced. The Core Technology Fee became a 5% commission on apps sold outside the App Store (Apple, checked 2026-10-13).
- Japan and Brazil now have their own Apple terms: 21% commission plus a 5% fee if you use In-App Purchase (Japan, Brazil, checked 2026-10-13).
- US apps may link to web checkout with no Apple commission while the Epic v. Apple case continues (App Review Guidelines 3.1.1(a), checked 2026-10-13).
How the calculator counts
- Apple's $1M Small Business limit counts proceeds, which are sales after Apple's cut. Once you pass it, the standard rate applies to the rest of the year.
- Google's pages say "first $1M of annual earnings" without defining earnings. We count gross sales, which gives the higher fee.
- Google's program rates apply only above $1M, and only after you enroll and pass validation. Enrollment is open to accounts with at least $1M in the last 12 months (Google).
- Sales tax and VAT are left out. Enter your sales after tax.

Questions clients ask
Short answers, no sales language. If yours isn't here, ask an engineer directly.
Ask us anythingHow much does Apple take from app sales in 2026?
30% by default, and 15% if you're enrolled in the App Store Small Business Program or the sale is a subscription renewal after the subscriber's first paid year. EU storefronts pay 26% (15% reduced) through In-App Purchase. Japan and Brazil pay 21% plus a 5% processing fee. Checked 2026-10-13 on Apple's developer pages.
How much does Google Play take in 2026?
In the US, UK, EEA, Australia, and Japan, Google now charges a service fee plus a 5% billing fee when you use Google Play Billing. Subscriptions and your first $1M of earnings pay 10% + 5%. Other sales above $1M pay 20% + 5% for new installs and 25% + 5% for existing installs. Everywhere else the old 15% and 30% still apply until September 30, 2027.
Can I avoid the store fee by sending users to my website?
In the US, Apple takes no commission on web link-outs today, but a court is still deciding what fee Apple may charge. Google still charges its service fee on web link-outs, but drops the 5% billing fee. In the EU, Japan, and Brazil Apple charges 15% (10% reduced) on sales within 7 days of the link tap. Your own payment processor then takes its cut, so the saving is smaller than it looks.
Is the Google Play fee really 10% now?
Only for some sales, and only before the billing fee. Subscriptions and your first $1M a year pay a 10% service fee. If you use Google Play Billing, the 5% billing fee brings it to 15%, the same as before. The real cut is on one-time sales above $1M and on payments you take outside Play Billing.
Does the calculator store what I type?
No. It runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
